Upper North Island
Mostly cloudy with a shower or two, especially about northern Auckland in the morning and greater Auckland from afternoon. Dry spells at times elsewhere. Winds are mostly light although picking up from the northerly quarter later in the day.
Lower North Island
Mostly cloudy in the east with northeasterly breezes, sunnier conditions in the west although late afternoon or evening cloud increases from the west. Later in the evening or overnight some rain moves into Taranaki and Wellington.
Upper South Island
Mostly cloudy along the West Coast with the chance of a shower, rain develops about South Westland in the afternoon then spreads into North Westland in the evening. Heavy falls at times. Mostly sunny about Nelson and Marlborough, cloud increases about Nelson late afternoon then evening showers and late rain. Marlborough sees cloud thicken up in the evening, late spots of rain develop. North to northeasterly winds increase during the day. Canterbury has thickening high cloud and gusty northeasterly winds, especially near the coast, late evening and overnight spots of rain move through.
Lower South Island
Thick high cloud with spots of rain late afternoon and evening, northeasterly winds gusty about coastal areas.
