Upper North Island

Occasional showers, becoming heavy in the afternoon then easing evening as northwesterly winds change westerly. A chance showers may contain a few thunderstorms.

Lower North Island

Cloudy areas in the west with northwesterly winds, the odd shower about. Sunny areas and thickening high cloud in the east with northwesterly breezes, a few spots of rain possible about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne late afternoon / evening. Wellington and the Wairarapa is mainly sunny, late afternoon or evening a southerly change moves in bringing a few showers.

Upper South Island

Cloudy areas in the east with south to southwesterly winds, a few showers about also. Showers for North Westland with light winds, clearing evening as winds tend south to southeast. Nelson and Marlborough are fairly dry but there may be a few showers pass through in the evening.

Lower South Island

Showers in the east and about Southland for much of the day, south to southwesterly winds. South Westland is mainly dry and sunny with southeasterly winds.
