Upper North Island

Areas of cloud and some sun possible at times, light winds for most with easterlies about Northland. There may be a shower or two especially this afternoon. Parts of Northland may see a heavy downpour this afternoon then easing in the evening.

Lower North Island

In the west expect cloudy areas and some sun, chance of a light shower or two mainly in the afternoon. Cloudy along the east coast with northeasterly winds, the odd shower or drizzle patch. Wellington sees sunny areas today with northerly winds

Upper South Island

Mainly sunny weather, east to northeasterly winds for most this afternoon from Nelson down through to Canterbury. Light winds for most inland tending northwest. North Westland (West Coast) has sunny areas and westerly winds.

Lower South Island

Mostly sunny in the east with north to northeasterly winds near the coast, winds tend more northwest inland. Some high cloud possible at times mainly later in the day. Southland sees north to northwesterly winds becoming a little gusty at times after midday. South Westland (West Coast) sees mostly cloudy skies, showers especially about Fiordland with breezy Northerly winds.
