Upper North Island
Mostly cloudy with showers, showers may become heavy in the afternoon with possible thunderstorms / downpours. Winds from the west or northwest.
Lower North Island
Cloudy areas with occasional showers, showers may become heavy in the afternoon Manawatu northwards with a chance of thunderstorms then easing in the evening. Winds from the west or northwest. Along the east coast expect light winds with early rain clearing away, then expect sunny areas and some high cloud. The odd shower may spread from the west at times during the afternoon and evening. Cloudy areas and some occasional sun about Wellington with northwesterly winds.
Upper South Island
Cloudy areas in the west with west to southwesterly winds, mainly dry. Nelson is sunny with southwesterly winds, perhaps tending northerly in the afternoon. Marlborough and Canterbury may see morning cloud then breaking to sunny areas, east to northeasterly winds freshen in the afternoon near the coast.
Lower South Island
Cloudy in the west with patchy showers or drizzle about Fiordland. Sunnier out east with any morning cloud breaking away, winds from the west or northwest however coastal Otago sees east to northeast winds in the afternoon.
