Upper North Island

Cloudy areas and the odd shower about, especially late afternoon or evening where one or two may be heavy. Winds fairly breezy from the south tending more southwest over Northland.

Lower North Island

Gusty south to southeasterly winds with cloudy skies for most, only the odd shower in the west. Along the east coast expect rain with heavy falls possible. Wellington and the eastern coastline see strong south to southeasterly winds possibly gusting to gale at times.

Upper South Island

Mostly sunny in the west with southeasterly breezes. Fairly cloudy elsewhere with morning rain in the east easing to showers which mostly clears in the afternoon. Some snow down to 400m. Nelson sees cloudy areas but may remain fairly dry through the day, winds about the outer Marlborough Sounds and about Farewell Spit will be strong from the southeast gusting to gale at times.

Lower South Island

A mainly sunny day in the west with light winds. A mix of sun and cloud elsewhere with a mostly cloudy start possible along the Otago coastline before breaking to some sun. Winds generally from the south.
