Upper North Island

Areas of cloud and some sun, cloud thickens in the evening for most with showers moving into western areas overnight. The Bay Of Plenty may see a light shower or two during the day. Northerly quarter winds.

Lower North Island

Mostly sunny in the east with northerly breezes and warm temperatures. Sunny areas and some cloud out west, cloud thickens for most from late aftternoon or evening then during the evening or overnight showers move in. Wellington sees cloudy areas with breezy northerlies, evening spots of rain or showers.

Upper South Island

Cloudy on the West Coast with rain, heavy at times with possible thunderstorms. Rain overnight may be particularly heavy about the Tasman / Nelson regions. Marlborough sees breezy northwesterlies, cloudy skies and the odd shower at times spreading from the west. Canterbury has a few morning spots of rain then clearing by midday, high cloud gradually clearing from the south in the afternoon.

Lower South Island

Morning spells of rain about Southland and Otago mostly clearing then a few sunny areas break through in the afternoon, winds from the north or northwest. The odd shower may continue to affect Central Otago and Southland through the afternoon and evening. Rain on the West Coast with possible thunderstorms, breezy northwesterlies.
