Upper North Island

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud with light northerlies, cloud thickens in the evening with a few spots of rain moving in. Rain develops overnight.

Lower North Island

High cloud increasing with northwesterlies freshening from this afternoon, the odd shower moving into Taranaki later this afternoon then rain developing from Taranaki through to
Wellington in the west during this evening with thunderstorms possible later.
Along the east coast from Gisborne to Wairarapa expect a warm day with light
winds, northwesterlies from late afternoon, some high cloud develops later in
the day.

Upper South Island

Sunny with increasing high cloud on the east coast, light winds this morning then winds tending northerly or
northwesterly this afternoon. Clear about Nelson this morning however cloud
increases this afternoon with northerly winds, patchy drizzle moves in late
afternoon then rain later this evening with thunderstorms possible. Cloudy or becoming cloudy on the West
Coast north of Hokitika this morning with northerlies, rain moves in this
afternoon with heavy falls and thunderstorms possible then easing to showers
this evening with a southwest change.

Lower South Island

High cloud on the east coast with north to northeasterly winds, a few patchy showers
move into Southland and Otago this afternoon then rain develops evening with
winds changing southerly. Cloudy on the West Coast south of Hokitika with
showers this morning then rain by midday with heavy falls and thunderstorms
possible, winds change southwest late afternoon with rain easing to
showers.
