Showers, some heavy and thundery about Canterbury easing this evening and overnight for most of the country as a low pressure system moves away to the east of the South Island overnight.

Auckland & Northland
Areas of cloud with northwesterly breezes, the odd shower at times
especially in the east then easing overnight potentially clearing for
many.
Tonight’s Lows: 14-15

Central North Island, Waikato
& Bay Of Plenty

Areas of cloud with the odd shower at times, showers ease overnight
potentially clearing for many. The Bay Of Plenty should remain fairly dry this
evening or overnight although the low risk of a shower remains.
Tonight’s Lows: 12-15

Eastern North Island

Mainly clear skies with northwesterly winds easing this evening, winds may
remain fairly breezy overnight about Wairarapa.
Tonight’s Lows: 13-15

Western North Island

Cloudy spells with breezy northwesterly winds, the odd shower at times
eases overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 12-13

Wellington

Some cloud with strong northerlies, the odd shower at times too.
Northerlies ease overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 14

Nelson

Showers, clearing this evening as northerlies change westerly. Clear spells
overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 12-13

Marlborough

Mostly sunny with northerly breezes, a few brief showers may move through
later this afternoon for a time with winds then easing and tending more
westerly. Overnight winds change southerly with a few showers, mainly about
southern Marlborough and the coast.
Tonight’s Low: 11

Canterbury

Showers, some heavy and thundery with hail about North Canterbury easing
this evening then clearing around midnight for most inland places, the odd
shower may remain near the coast especially Banks Peninsula.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-12

West Coast

Skies becoming mainly clear this evening about South Westland with south to
southwesterly winds, showers continue for much of the night north of Hokitika
with westerly winds there then easing towards dawn.
Tonight’s Low: 12-14

Coastal Otago

Showers ease this evening then clear overnight, cool southwesterlies.
Tonight’s Low: 9

Southland & Central Otago

Mostly cloudy with southerly breezes and showers, easing this evening and
mostly clearing overnight although the odd shower may remain about coastal
Southland.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-10
