Stormy end to week quite likely

> From the WeatherWatch archives

For the past week long range computer models have been forecasting an aggressive low to form east of Australia and head towards New Zealand at the end of this week.

To add to the intensity a large high should be to the east of New Zealand, helping create strong nor’westers over the country.

Heavy rain is likely to affect western areas of both islands with strong winds mainly affecting eastern and central parts of New Zealand.

MetService has already issued a mention of the approaching system in their Severe Weather Outlook.

WeatherWatch.co.nz will keep you up to date with the latest developments across the week.
