A ridge moves onto the South Island today bringing mostly settled weather although there may still be some cloud along eastern coastlines in a light southerly airflow. The odd shower for eastern parts of the North Island, mostly sunny out west although there is the risk of a late afternoon shower for some parts.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP

Sunny with some cloud, south to southeasterly breezes. There is the chance of a shower passing through late afternoon and early evening mainly in the east.

Eastern North Island
Cloudy with southerly breezes, showers at times clearing by evening.
High: 17-18
 
Western North Island
A few morning showers clear then expect afternoon sunny spells. Southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 17-19
 
Nelson
Mostly sunny with southeasterly breezes easing during the afternoon.
High: 17-19
 
Marlborough & Wellington
Cloudy periods with brisk southerlies, chance of the odd shower now and then.
Highs: 15-16
 
Canterbury
Sunny and cloudy spells with southerly breezes.
Highs: 14-15
 
West Coast
Sunny with light winds after a cool start.

Southland & Otago
Sunny with some cloud, mainly about coastlal areas. Light winds after a frosty start inland.
