A ridge brings settled weather to the South Island today while a southeasterly airflow lies over the North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Any morning showers clear then some sun breaks through, from midday isolated showers develop with the chance of a heavy fall Auckland northwards then clearing in the evening. Winds mostly from the southeast however a south to southwest sea breeze clashes in the west with the southeasterly from western Waikato up through to western Northland.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning high cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-18

Eastern North Island
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, cool southerly winds.
Highs: 12-15

Wellington
Morning cloud then sunny areas increase, southerly winds.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with afternoon north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Canterbury
Sunny, east to northeasterly winds freshen in the afternoon.
Highs: 14-16

West Coast
Mostly sunny with light winds tending southwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 15-20

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with some high cloud possible, west to northwesterly winds for most however tending northeast about coastal Otago.
Highs: 15-18
