A ridge lies over most of New Zealand today while a large high pressure system is centred east of the country, meanwhile a narrow front lies over the North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy areas with a few showers, areas of rain too especially about the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty in the afternoon. Some sun may break through at times more so about Auckland and Northland. Light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud, isolated showers develop late afternoon / evening south of Taranaki. Showers may become heavy with a risk of thunderstorms then clearing later in the day. Mostly cloudy about Taranaki itself with the odd shower possible. Light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-21

Eastern North Island
Cloudy areas and occasional sun with northeasterly winds, chance of an isolated shower in the afternoon mainly about the ranges.
Highs: 17-19

Wellington
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light northerlies.
High: 19

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with afternoon north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-21

Canterbury
Sunny with east to northeasterly winds developing by midday.
Highs: 18-21

West Coast
Sunny with light winds, afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 16-23

Southland & Otago
Sunny with light winds, any morning cloud near the coast breaks away. Afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 18-23
