A westerly quarter airflow covers the country today although a low forms out to the east influencing a southwest change about the east coast of the South Island this afternoon and evening.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Any early showers clear then expect a mix of sun and cloud with west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny, late evening or overnight a few patchy showers move in. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-17

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds, afternoon sea breezes about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.
Highs: 20-23

Wellington
Mostly sunny with some high cloud. North to northwesterly winds, breezy from afternoon.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with light winds picking up from the northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 18-22

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, late afternoon or evening isolated showers develop Banks Peninsula southwards bringing the chance of a heavy fall, perhaps even a thunderstorm with hail. Showers move further north overnight. Light winds.
Highs: 15-18

West Coast
Mostly cloudy with  patchy showers, possibly heavy from late afternoon / evening. Westerly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Southland & Otago
Morning sunny spells with the chance of a shower. Showers more likely in the afternoon with the chance of a heavy fall / thunderstorm with hail then clearing at night. Westerly winds.
Highs: 12-16
