Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning heavy rain eases to showers, showers may be heavy at times with a risk of hail / thunder from afternoon. Breezy west to northwesterly winds.

Eastern North Island
Rain about the Wairarapa spreading northwards during the afternoon as a southwest change pushes through. Clearing for most areas later in the evening / overnight.
Highs: 14-17
Wellington
Morning rain then some sun may break through. Gusty northwesterly winds.
High: 12
Marlborough & Nelson
Plenty of high cloud, any early showers clear however Nelson may see the odd shower across the day. Northwesterly winds freshen up in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-14
Canterbury
Sunny areas and some high cloud. Gusty northwesterly winds especially in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-14
West Coast
Periods of rain, heavy at times with possible thunder. A more sustained period of rain moves into Fiordland in the afternoon then reaching North Westland later in the evening. Gusty northwesterly winds.
Highs: 8-10
Southland & Otago
A few showers about Southland with gusty north to northwesterly winds, rain from evening as winds change southwest. Otago sees sunny areas and increasing high cloud with brisk to strong northwesterly winds, a few spots of rain possible late afternoon / evening then overnight rain with a southwest change.
