Low pressure over the upper South Island and North Island moves from west to east during today meanwhile a southerly airflow over the lower South Island moves northwards as the day progresses.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Morning rain eases (possibly heavy about the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty) then expect sunny spells with the chance of an isolated shower. Light west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

A few showers, some may be heavy then easing mid afternoon as northerlies change southerly.
Highs: 15-17

Eastern North Island

Some morning rain then easing to a few showers and sunny spells, northerlies change southerly about the Wairarapa in the afternoon then spreading northwards.
Highs: 16-17

Wellington

Some morning rain clears, showers again from mid afternoon as northerlies change southerly.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson

Some morning rain clears, perhaps some sun for a time around midday then a few showers develop in the afternoon as northerlies change southeasterly.
Highs: 15-16

Canterbury

Areas of rain or showers, clearing in the evening. North Canterbury may be dry for a time in the morning before showers move in. Cool southwesterly winds.
High: 12

West Coast

Rain eases then clears around midday at which point sunny areas break through, light winds.
Highs: 15-16

Southland & Otago
Morning rain eases then clears, sunny spells develop this afternoon. Southwesterly winds die out in the evening.

Highs: 10-13
