A front moves northwards over the South Island this morning then over the North Island this afternoon / evening.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas and occasional sun, southwesterly winds freshen in the afternoon. The Bay Of Plenty will likely have longer sunny spells.
Highs: 23-25

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

A chance of early sun then cloud increases with northwesterly winds, southeasterlies freshen around midday. Chance of a shower at some point during the afternoon otherwise mainly dry. Cloud breaks away in the evening.
Highs: 22-23

Eastern North Island

Sunny at first then a fresh southwest change around midday brings increasing cloud, drizzle about the Wairarapa from early afternoon spreads elsewhere by evening.
Highs: 22-23

Wellington

High cloud then a gusty southerly change mid morning brings cloud and the risk of a shower.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson

High cloud then south to southeasterly winds freshen late morning bringing the chance of a shower, sunny spells then increase from afternoon.
Highs: 20-22

Canterbury

A few morning showers clear, cloud breaks in the evening. Breezy cool south to southwesterly winds die out in the evening.
Highs: 14-15

West Coast
Morning showers clear then becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon, light winds tend southerly for a time.

Highs: 20-23

Southland & Otago

Any early showers clear then sunny spells increase, south to southwesterly winds (breezy about the Otago coast) die out in the evening.
Highs: 14-18
