Two high pressure centres lie either side of the South Island today while a weak area of low pressure sits over the North Island. The weather is fairly tame today with cloudy areas for the east of the South Island. The main thing to watch is isolated showers afternoon / evening about some Central North Island areas, some could be heavy even with the risk of a thunderstorm.

Sunny areas and some cloud, light winds this morning and afternoon sea breezes.

Areas of cloud this morning break to sunny spells, southwesterly
winds.
High: 24

Bay Of Plenty

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, light winds tend northerly
this afternoon. Chance of an isolated shower this evening mainly inland possibly
heavy.
Highs: 24-25

Waikato

Mostly sunny with light winds, chance of an isolated shower late afternoon
/ evening possibly heavy then clearing later.
High: 26

Central North Island

Sunny areas and some cloud, light winds. Late this afternoon or evening
isolated showers develop possibly heavy with thunderstorms then clearing
overnight.
Highs: 24-25

Eastern North Island

Areas of cloud this morning with light winds tending southerly towards
midday. Sunny spells develop this afternoon with ENE winds. About the ranges of
Hawkes Bay and especially Gisborne isolated showers develop late afternoon /
evening possibly heavy then clearing later on.
Highs: 22-23

Western North Island

Sunny areas and some cloud, light northwesterlies tend southeast later this
morning.
Highs: 25-26

Wellington

Sunny at first this morning then a few clouds drifting in as southerlies
develop.
Highs: 19-20

Nelson

Morning sunny areas, some cloud from afternoon as light winds tend
northeasterly. Chance of a light shower late afternoon / evening especially
inland.
Highs: 22-24

Marlborough

Periods of cloud move in this morning as southerly winds develop, winds
then tend easterly this afternoon. Chance of an isolated shower late afternoon /
evening inland.
Highs: 22-23

Canterbury

Morning cloud with the chance of a drizzle patch, sunny spells break
through in the afternoon. Easterly winds develop in the morning. Cloud may hang
around inland areas for much of the day with the chance of a drizzle patch
continuing now and then.
High: 19

West Coast

Mostly sunny weather, light winds and afternoon sea breezes. Warmer
temperatures inland especially Buller.
Highs: 21-25

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny at first this morning, light winds tend southerly around
midday then easterly into the afternoon. Some cloud gradually moves in during
the afternoon / evening.
High: 20

Central Otago

Mostly sunny with light winds, tending southerly or southwest in the
afternoon. Some high cloud about.
Highs: 23-26

Southland

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light winds tend southerly this
afternoon.
Highs: 19-20
