A ridge over the North Island gets shunted north today by and increasing westerly airflow, the weather is generally settled however. For the South Island north to northwesterly winds strengthen, most regions see thickening high cloud with some rain about the lower South Island and in the east in the evening.
Auckland & Northland
Morning cloud breaks to afternoon sunny spells, southwesterly winds. Winds will be fairly light about Northland with a sea breeze possibly developing in the afternoon along the east coast.

Bay Of Plenty
Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, light winds tend northerly in
the afternoon.
High: 23
Waikato & Central North Island
Mostly sunny weather with light winds tending westerly in the afternoon.
The Waikato may have a bit more cloud about first thing in the morning then
gradually clearing away.

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with morning southerlies dying out, northeasterly winds build
in the afternoon.
Highs: 18-19
Western North Island
Sunny areas and some cloud, light winds at first then afternoon
westerlies.
Sunny spells and increasing cloud with northerly winds building.
Sunny spells and some cloud at times thickening in the evening, light winds
in the morning then afternoon northerlies.
Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, northwesterlies build in the
afternoon.
Periods of mid and high level cloud thickening with northeasterly winds
near the coast, northwesterlies inland. A few spots of late evening rain
possible.
Fairly cloudy with the odd light shower mainly about South Westland. Rain
moves into South Westland in the evening then spreads north overnight, chance of
heavy falls within rain.

Cloudy areas with northeasterly winds, rain develops later in the
evening.
High cloud with northwesterly winds, a few spot of rain especially
evening.
Thick high cloud with northerly winds, a few spots of rain mainly
evening.
