An easterly airflow lies over the country today, cloudy periods for eatern regions with drizzle at times. Sunnyier out west and about southern New Zealand, some high cloud at times. About Auckland and northwards the risk of precipitation increases, rain about Northland could contain torrential falls of rain later on especially in the east.
Northland
Cloudy with periods of rain, rain heavier mid afternoon onwards with torrential falls possible in the evening (especially in the east). Brisk to strong easterly winds.
Cloudy with the odd patchy shower, especially in the north. Brisk
easterlies becoming strong at times by midday. Patchy rain from Northland moving into northern Auckland.
Mostly cloudy with drizzle patches, otherwise mostly dry. Brisk easterly winds.

Waikato & Central North Island
Cloudy periods and occasional sunny spells, breezy easterly winds. Skies
cloudier for the Waikato with easterlies brisker.

Eastern North Island
Mostly cloudy with easterly winds, occasional drizzle patches.
Periods of cloud with a few sunny breaks now and then, breezy east to
northeast winds.
Highs: 16
Western North Island
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, breezy easterly winds.
Sunny spells with easterly winds, winds may tend southerly in the afternoon
for a time.
Sunny areas and some high cloud, east to southeast winds.
Mostly cloudy with a few morning drizzle patches clearing, easterly
winds.
Some morning drizzle, mainly Banks Peninsula northwards clears. A few sunny
spells breakthough in the afternoon especially further south into Mid and South
Canterbury. Northeasterly winds.
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, east to southeasterly winds.

Coastal Otago
Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather by midday, northeasterly
winds.
Mostly sunny weather after any morning cloud clears. Light winds.
Sunny with light winds tending southeasterly in the afternoon.
