An anticyclone lies over the upper North Island today while a west to northwest airflow flows over the rest of the country. Generally settled weather but some areas can expect plenty of cloud.

Northland
Mainly sunny with light winds in the morning, afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 22-23

Auckland

Mainly sunny with some cloud at times, light southwesterlies freshen up a little in the afternoon.
High: 23

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Mostly sunny with light winds tending WSW in the afternoon, any early cloud
clears. About the Bay Of Plenty winds will be fairly light for much of the day.
Highs: 21-24

Eastern North Island

Sunny with light winds tending easterly in the afternoon about Hawkes Bay
and Gisborne. Northwesterlies about Wairarapa for much of the day.
Highs: 23-25

Western North Island

Cloudy spells, light northwesterlies in the morning then winds tend
westerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 19-21

Wellington

Cloudy spells with breezy northerly winds, brisk at times.
Highs: 18-19

Nelson

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light west to northwest winds.
High: 20

Marlborough

Mostly sunny with light winds in the morning, afternoon north to northwest
winds.
High: 23

Canterbury

Sunny areas and some cloud, cloud mainly morning and night. Light winds in
the morning, afternoon easterlies.
High: 18

West Coast

Cloudy periods with westerly breezes.
High: 18

Coastal Otago

Periods of cloud with east to northeast breezes, chance of a few afternoon
sunny spells.
High: 17

Central Otago

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light winds tend northwest.
Highs: 18-19

Southland

Periods of cloud and a few sunny spells, chance of a brief shower now and
then otherwise mainly dry. Light northwesterly winds.
