The Rugby World Cup Final at Eden Park in 1987 weather-wise was a contrast in conditions.
Tomorrow night appears mostly dry and settled for the big final this year but 24 years ago it was almost 4 seasons in one day.
It’s important to remember that the final game of the tournament in that year was played in the middle of winter therefore temperatures were colder and the winds were a little fresh at times.
The afternoon of the game began sunny enough however as the match got underway sunshine gave way to passing showers and at times rainbows were developing as the mix of sun and rain remained constant for a fair chunk of the game.
It was a little greasy underfoot back in ’87 due to the odd shower moving through and tomorrow night could see a light dew forming as the game is played late at night however sunshine and showers shouldn’t come into play!
