The rain clouds are rolling in this afternoon across western New Zealand as a front and associated low move in from the Tasman Sea.
WeatherWatch.co.nz head weather analyst Philip Duncan says showers are now affecting northern New Zealand and rain is still expected tonight.
“I still think we’ll see a 5 to 20mm spread across our drought regions. Certainly not enough to end the droughts but enough to give a helping hand”.
Meanwhile further south heavy rain is moving into the South Island and lower North Island ranges.
MetService has a number of rain warnings in effect.
