Run a simple poll and you get a simple answer, most are tired of the rain!
The results are in – 79.7% of people who voted in this poll voted yes and 20.3% voted no.
The weather has constantly been on the go since winter got going resulting in plenty of wet weather, I’ve certainly noticed it as a forecaster that anticyclones just haven’t hung around for very long at all. Mostly they are a brief period of respite for a day before another barrage of fronts or areas of low pressure would make their way through.
Most regions around New Zealand already have their average annual rainfall and are now exceeding those totals which will no doubt climb a bit higher still before the year is out.
But a word must be said for some who voted no, this is what some of our facebook fans said.
Matilde Readett: 🙂 Rainy days are so romantic
Judy Howatson: Love a rainy day, especially if there’s no wind with it.
Some mentioned that Southland and parts of the east coast of the North Island could do with some rain even though plenty of others have had a drenching.
As we look ahead generally speaking I’m seeing slightly more settled weather and more anticyclonic conditions in our near future, its not to say areas of low pressure and fronts will slow up a whole heap, they will definitely be in the mix too but that can be expected as we are still in spring. Roll on summer and longer lasting high’s (Disclaimer, for most of us).
