Well, our readers have spoken – and it seems as though we, as a nation, aren’t scared of a little thunder and lightning!

It may just be our particular hardy Weatherwatch followers, but more than 70 percent of those who voted said they weren’t at all scared of thunderstorms, saying they’re fun.

And most of the comments seemed to back that up, indeed, some even lamenting the lack of storms this season at home!

“I would love more thunderstorms here in Stratford Taranaki, the Spring storms were kind of boring this year.” – Sharalee

While others were a little more reserved in their response:

“Thunderstorms are an awesome force but so scary.  Even more scary are electrical storms that continue for hours on end. I do not like the death and destruction that sometimes happens.” – Zelda

So, with the big tropical storms easing over the next month or so, maybe some good old fashioned snowstorms will have to tide everyone over through winter…which sometimes generate squally thunderstorms around our coastal areas.
