POLL RESULTS: Weird weather leads to weird plant behaviour around NZ

> From the WeatherWatch archives

2016 is still causing a fair amount of head scratching around New Zealand (and the world) as our weather goes from the bizarre to the sublime!

We’ve had such a strange start to winter in many areas that it’s no surprise many kiwis are out of whack to some extent – and it seems that extends to our plants and trees, too – if this week’s poll results are anything to go by.

We wanted to know how our wildlife was faring with the weird and wacky winter conditions – and our readers told us – not too well.

Nearly three quarters of respondents to this week’s poll question said their plants and trees were noticeably ‘unusual’ for this time of year – as they seem to be as confused by conditions as we are.

With the last couple of weeks bringing some proper winter weather, we wonder if things may soon return to normal…make sure you stay in touch and keep sending us in your observations and pictures – we love receiving them!
