POLL RESULTS: Most kiwis avoiding the chilly water in 2017

> From the WeatherWatch archives

It certainly hasn’t been a traditional kiwi summer so far, with average temperatures down almost all across the country!

In this week’s poll, we wanted to know how many of our readers had been for a dip yet, and how many were scared off by the 1-1.5C difference in water temperatures compared to the average New Zealand summer.

Our poll was fairly conclusive – with nearly 70% of voters saying they haven’t yet been in the rivers, lakes or oceans that help make summers a special time for many kiwi families.

One voter, David R, said:

“Last summer i had been for multiple swims at the local beach, Paraparaumu. Was a great summer. This year though the conditions have not been anywhere close to tempting me to go in. Hope the situation changes soon!”

– Thanks to everyone who voted, and keep an eye out for our next poll, coming tomorrow morning!
