Warm air is being funneled down from the Tropics as weather systems bring northerly winds, and high temperatures are resulting in far less snow on the country’s skifields as a result.
Most New Zealanders, however, seem to be relatively happy with the situation – as 77% of those who voted in our latest poll saying they are ‘enjoying’ the highs, while a little over 20% say it’s ‘not helping’.
The high temperatures look set to stick around for at least the next few days, as summer totals cling on well into May.
