Friday sees rain clouds moving through followed by a wintry southerly that will bring polar air as far north as Auckland and Coromandel Peninsula this weekend and into next week.
This will bring snow in the ranges, mountains and maybe some foothills of the South Island, and around Central Plateau (including the Desert Road) this Friday and Saturday.
By Sunday and Monday frosty weather expands as high pressure moves closer – but the southerly flow is still with us, keeping temperatures down.
We have your NZ forecast through to Tuesday of next week
