The news came through last week that New Zealand’s largest-ever live sheep export – 50,000 animals – were headed to Mexico.
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) said the animals were being sent to Mexico for breeding purposes and not for slaughter. Shipments of live animals for slaughter is banned.
This is an environmental story, and with so many of our readers farmers, and with so many New Zealanders passionate about rural life, we thought it was important to ask if this is something NZ should be doing.
Do you support the live shipment to Mexico?
