NEW 4am TIME! Friday’s National Forecast

> From the WeatherWatch archives

We’re moving the clocks back an hour – well, for our daily nationwide forecasts anyway. As of today, all of our nationwide forecasts in our news feed will now move from 5am to 4am – to reflect demand from the many New Zealanders needing an early outlook.

A front pushes northwards over the South Island today reaching the North Island this evening. Mainly western regions see rain with heavy falls and possible thunderstorms, only sporadic falls reaching out east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas and increasing cloud, chance of a shower. Rain late afternoon or evening, possibly heavy with thunderstorms, then easing back to showers overnight, some may still be squally. Northwesterly winds change gusty westerly overnight.
Highs: 19-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy or becoming cloudy in the morning, the odd shower then rain from mid-afternoon, possibly heavy with thunderstorms by evening. Gusty west to northwesterly winds, strong about Taranaki.

Highs: 16-19

Eastern North Island

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, a few spots of rain moving through late afternoon or evening. Northwesterly winds, a little gusty at times, especially about the Wairarapa later in the day.
Highs: 21-23

Southland & Otago

Rain develops in the morning then clearing afternoon with a few sunny areas breaking through as northerly winds change westerly. By evening southwesterly winds develop bringing a few isolated showers.
