The hot, dry, weather in Nelson looks set to continue with basically no rain in sight for 10 days and highs inland reaching the late 20s and early 30s in the days ahead.
WeatherWatch.co.nz says while the bulk of the windiest weather is not in the Nelson area, but nearby in Cook Strait, the rainfall has also been nearby but not in Nelson. After all, there is a reason why Nelson often takes out New Zealand’s highest annual sunshine hours.
Here’s the 10 days forecast specific forecast for Wakefield near the fire with HOURLY details, including hourly wind speeds and hourly % of rain covering each of those 10 days.
Below are special maps exclusive to WeatherWatch.co.nz showing rainfall in and around Nelson/Wakefield. The first two maps show blue and green, the key is a little small on the left hand-side but this indicates just 0.5 to 5.0mm and this is on the wrong side of the Nelson Ranges with 0mm to 2mm forecast for Wakefield itself…which will do basically nothing to help.
It’s down to the hard work of firefighters with Mother Nature not giving a lot of support in the rain front, but helping by not creating super strong winds in the area.
