A front pushes northwards over the South Island today, reaching the lower North Island during the afternoon. This front will weaken during the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy areas and occasional sun, risk of a shower. The Bay Of Plenty is mainly dry with more frequent areas of sun. Breezy west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy, the odd light shower possible now and then especially afternoon / evening. West to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-17

Eastern North Island
Mainly sunny with west to northwest winds, during the afternoon a few patchy showers move into the Wairarapa then a few possibly pushing northwards later in the evening / overnight as a south to southwest change moves through.
Highs: 19-24

Wellington
Mostly sunny, some cloud from afternoon may bring a light shower or two as northwesterly winds change southerly.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny to start then clouding over around midday with east to southeast winds bringing the chance of a light shower, more so about Marlborough. Nelson sees some cloud increase this afternoon with winds remaining fairly light.
Highs: 16-18

Canterbury
Canterbury sees patchy light showers moving in during the morning, breaking during the afternoon although remaining fairly cloud. A few showers linger about parts of South Canterbury then possibly spreading northwards through to about Banks Peninsula later in the evening. Southerlies tend easterly by evening.
Highs: 10-12

West Coast
Early rain eases to showers which mostly clear this afternoon, the odd one may linger about Buller till evening. Sun quickly breaks through about South Westland from morning. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Southland & Otago
Mostly cloudy about Southland today with the odd shower, coastal Otago is looking fairly cloudy also with the risk of a shower at times mainly in the morning. Central Otago sees morning cloud break to sunny spells. Winds from the west or southwest, gusty about coastal areas then easing from afternoon.
Highs: 11-15
