A cool southerly airflow lies over New Zealand today, generally drier in the west with showers in the east although they will ease for most.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A few showers about this morning, clearing away then expect sunny spells and some high cloud. Northland and perhaps parts of Auckland see further isolated showers this afternoon, some may be heavy then clearing this evening. A few showers linger overnight about Great Barrier Island and the Coromandel.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny areas and some cloud. South to southeasterly winds, gusty about the coast.
Highs: 9-13

Eastern North Island
A few showers about the Wairarapa, sunny spells further north after any morning showers clear away. Southwesterly winds, gusty about the coast.
Highs: 13

Wellington
The odd shower, brisk to strong southerly winds.
High: 9

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny areas with south to southeasterly winds for Marlborough, gusty about the coast. Nelson has a mainly sunny day however some cloud from evening may bring a light shower or two.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury
A few morning showers clear near the coast, some sun may break through from afternoon. Inland patchy light showers or drizzle continue for much of the day although gradually easing, snow flurries to 500m. Fresh cool south to southwesterly winds die out in the evening.
Highs: 6-9

West Coast
Mainly sunny, some morning cloud about South Westland breaks away. Light southeasterlies.
High: 14

Southland & Otago
Morning showers or drizzle with snow flurries to 500m then breaking away with sunny spells developing from afternoon. Southerlies die out this evening.
Highs: 8-10
