A north to northeasterly airflow lies over New Zealand today with a front gradually pushing onto the West Coast of the South Island during the day then onto the west of the North Island overnight.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Thick high cloud although some sun may break through for a time this afternoon, rain moves in overnight. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Thick high cloud with Northerly winds, rain moves in overnight pushing in from the west.
Highs: 18-21

Eastern North Island

Plenty of high cloud with northeasterly winds, some lower level cloud possible for Gisborne then breaking up in the afternoon.
Highs: 18-19

Wellington

Thick high cloud, some overnight rain. Northerly winds.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson

Plenty of high cloud with north to northwesterly winds, some overnight rain especially about Nelson.
Highs: 17-19

Canterbury

Cloudy, chance spot of rain later in the day. East to Nor’East winds.
Highs: 15-17

West Coast

Cloudy with the odd shower, more so from afternoon then evening rain with the odd heavy fall. Breezy northeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Southland & Otago

Cloudy with the odd spot or some scattered rain at times, especially this evening. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-16
