A low brushes northeastern parts of the North Island today bringing rain or showers in a line from Northland down through to Hawkes Bay. This gradually eases away this afternoon and evening. Further south conditions are more settled. A few showers for the West Coast of the South Island and perhaps Southland / Otago.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Rain or showers, clearing early afternoon about Northland and Auckland, but not clearing about the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty till late afternoon. Cloud breaking a little in the evening. Southwesterly winds freshen from morning.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas and occasional sun with light west to northwesterly winds. In the afternoon southwesterlies freshen about Taranaki and the Central North Island. There may be a shower or two about for most, otherwise, conditions are mainly dry. There is a greater chance of showers for a time late morning and into the afternoon northeast of about Lake Taupo.

Eastern North Island
Mostly cloudy from Hawkes Bay northwards, while some rain develops during the morning about Gisborne, becoming heavy for a time before clearing in the evening. Southwesterlies freshen. Hawkes Bay may only see some brief afternoon rain for a time. The Wairarapa is mainly sunny with some high cloud.
Cloudy areas and occasional sun. Northwesterly winds change southerly later in the day.

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some high cloud and west to northwesterly winds.
Sunny areas and some high cloud, then a late afternoon southwest change brings some more cloud. Late evening or overnight drizzle patches.
Rain eases to showers which clear this afternoon, then sunny spells develop. Light northerlies change southwest.

Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and some high cloud at first, then west to southwest winds freshen later this morning bringing cloudy periods and the chance of a shower, any of which clear during the evening.
