A northeasterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, mostly cloudy for the upper North Island with the odd shower about. Further south and about the east coast of the South Island expect sunnier weather. The West Coast of the South Island is mostly cloudy with a few showers.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower possible about Bay Of Plenty, Auckland and Northland, breezy east to northeasterly winds. The Waikato has a higher chance of sun during today but the risk of a brief shower or two in the afternoon is there.
Highs: 23-26

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with light winds tending northeast, chance of a shower or two about northern parts of Taranaki and northern parts of the Central North Island during the afternoon otherwise mainly dry.
Highs: 22-24

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with northeasterly breezes, cloud a little more frequent about Gisborne during today.
Highs: 23-24

Wellington

Mostly sunny with northerly winds.
High: 22

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with some high cloud at times, north to northwesterly winds. Nelson may have cloudier skies during today with even the chance of a shower or two this morning.
Highs: 22-27

Canterbury

Sunny areas and some high cloud, north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 28-29

West Coast

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower about, north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 20-22

Southland & Otago

Mostly cloudy with the odd spot of rain or shower about, sunny areas possible in the afternoon about coastal Otago. Light winds.
Highs: 21-25
