A large high sits to the east of New Zealand today, the air flowing around this high comes over the North and South Islands as a northerly quarter wind.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly cloudy with some sun now and then, chance of a shower now and then also mainly in eastern areas. East to northeasterly winds
High: 24-26

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny areas and some mid / high level cloud with light winds, northeasterlies about Taranaki and the Central North Island. Also the risk of a shower late afternoon / evening about northern parts of Taranaki and the Central North Island otherwise mainly dry.
Highs: 23-27

Eastern North Island

Sunny areas with northeasterly winds.
Highs: 25-26

Wellington

Mostly sunny with north to northwesterly winds becoming a little breezy this afternoon, cloud thickens this evening.
High: 23-24

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with some high cloud later in the day, northwesterly breezes for Marlborough and tending northerly or perhaps northeast about Nelson.
Highs: 24-29

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterly breezes for most however right near the coast winds may tend east to northeast.
Highs: 29-30

West Coast

Sunny areas with northerly winds, spells of rain about Fiordland.
Highs: 23-26

Southland & Otago

Sunny areas and thickening high cloud with west to northwesterly winds, winds tend more northeast about coastal Otago. A few showers from afternoon about Southland with winds changing southerly, a few showers may make it into coastal Otago late afternoon / evening.
Highs: 23-26
