A weak area of high pressure sits to the east of the South Island today, mainly calm for much of New Zealand however a few isolated showers pop up for one or two regions.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas this morning then some sun breaking through from around midday about Northland, Auckland and the Bay Of Plenty. Chance of an isolated shower late afternoon about inland Bay Of Plenty, West to southwest winds.
Highs: 21-23

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Cloudy areas with westerly breezes tending southwest later today, Chance of a shower or two about otherwise mainly dry.
Highs: 18-23

Eastern North Island

Cloud about the Wairarapa this morning spreads into the Hawkes Bay this afternoon then Gisborne in the evening. Mostly sunny beforehand with light winds.
Highs: 20-23

Wellington

A few showers about this morning then clearing, afternoon sunny areas. Southerly winds.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson

Fairly cloudy with light easterly quarter winds (afternoon north to northeasterly winds for Nelson), chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening mainly inland.
Highs: 19-20

Canterbury

Fairly cloudy skies, chance of a light shower inland in the afternoon or evening otherwise mainly dry. Light winds tend southerly.
Highs: 18-19

West Coast

Areas of cloud and a chance of some sun, winds tending westerly or southwest. About Buller there may be a few isolated showers late afternoon / evening. Warmest weather inland.
Highs: 15-23

Southland & Otago

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather for Southland and Central Otago, cloud not breaking about coastal Otago till later in the day. Warmest weather will be inland, light winds.
Highs: 14-23
