A brisk southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, mainly cloudy in the west with a few showers about. Sunnier skies in the east but a few regions may still experience a shower or two.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly cloudy with the risk of a shower or two otherwise dry, sunny areas possible this afternoon for some mainly about the Bay Of Plenty. Brisk west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Cloudy areas with gusty west to southwesterly winds, a few showers about with long dry spells too.
Highs: 15-17

Eastern North Island

Sunny areas, a southwest change moves through the Wairarapa this morning bringing a few showers then pushing into Hawkes Bay and Gisborne this afternoon and evening.
Highs: 19-20

Wellington

Cloud breaks to sunny areas this morning, westerlies change southerly bringing the chance of a shower.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny areas with southwesterly winds, perhaps tending easterly this afternoon near the Marlborough coast. Low risk of an isolated shower after midday.
High: 17-18

Canterbury

Sunny areas with southwesterly winds, chance of an isolated shower or two mainly near the coast.
High: 18

West Coast

Mainly cloudy with the odd patchy shower, breezy west to southwesterly winds ease in the evening.
High: 13

Southland & Otago

Areas of rain with hail possible, clearing mid to late afternoon. Strong west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 11-13
