Cold southwesterlies flow over New Zealand today, a mostly sunny day for the majority of regions however very coastal areas in the east may see a shower or two. Also Southland and then Northland / Auckland in the north. Frosty morning and night for sheltered areas.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy areas about Northland and Auckland with the odd shower about especially this morning, sunny areas for the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty. Breezy Sou’Westerly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with West to Sou’West breezes.
High: 11-13

Eastern North Island

Sunny areas with Sou’Westerlies picking up in the morning, a few showers affect coastal Wairarapa with the odd snow flurry to 300m then clearing away by evening.
Highs: 11-13

Wellington

Sunny areas and a few clouds about, breezy Southerlies become brisk in the afternoon before easing later.
High: 9

Marlborough & Nelson

A mainly sunny day, light winds may tend Sou’West.
Highs: 12-13

Canterbury

A mostly sunny day however towards the coast expect areas of cloud, a few wintry showers pepper Banks Peninsula during the day with the odd low level snow flurry then clearing evening. Winds cold from the Sou’West but easing.
High: 9

West Coast

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 11-12

Southland & Otago

A mostly cloudy day, a few wintry showers with the odd snow flurry to low levels hanging around Southland and coastal Otago till evening. Cold Sou’Westerly winds, easing later in the day.
Highs: 6-7
