A ridge over the lower South Island brings mainly sunny weather, sunny weather also for the West Coast and Nelson / Marlborough. Elsewhere sees some cloud and a few showers about, long periods of sun also.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Some cloud for Northland with the odd shower possible at times, especially late afternoon / evening. Elsewhere expect a mostly sunny morning then cloud builds in the afternoon where the risk of a few showers is possible once again, clearing later in the evening. Any shower activity carries the risk of some hail. Winds generally tend south to southeasterly.
Highs: 11-13

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with southeasterly winds, chance of a shower late afternoon / evening in the west Wanganui southwards.
Highs: 9-12

Eastern North Island

Showers, a risk of small hail. Snow to 400m, perhaps 300m at times. Winds very cold from the south.
Highs: 10-11

Wellington

Occasional showers with a few snow flurries to 300m, cold southerly winds.
Highs: 8-9

Marlborough & Nelson

A mainly sunny day with southerly winds, frosty morning and night.
Highs: 10-11

Canterbury

A few showers and snow flurries to 200m mostly clearing this morning although there is the chance of a lingering shower till evening. Skies mostly cloudy although South Canterbury especially inland is looking mainly sunny. Winds from the southwest, frosty overnight.
Highs: 7-8

West Coast

Sunny with light winds, tending southeasterly about North Westland. Frosty morning and night.
Highs: 9-10

Southland & Otago

Mainly sunny with light winds, any morning cloud breaks away. Frosty morning and night.
High: 6-7
