A cold southwesterly airflow lies over the country today with most regions seeing showers atleast for a time, snow falls to 200m in the far south.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower possible, more so this afternoon onwards. The Bay Of Plenty has a greater chance of sun during the day and may not see a shower or two till evening. Brisk west to southwest winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with a few showers especially this afternoon where some may be heavy with hail then clearing this evening. Light winds for most although Taranaki has breezy westerlies.

Eastern North Island
Showers develop about the Wairarapa early this morning then pushing into Hawkes Bay by midday and then into Gisborne this afternoon, before showers move in expect some sun. Showers may be heavy at times and contain hail, some snow lowering to 500m in the evening, possibly 300m about the hills of Wairarapa.
Mostly cloudy with occasional showers, a chance of small hail. A few snow flurries to 700m at first lowering to 400 possibly 300m in the evening. Southerly winds.

Marlborough & Nelson
Periods of cloud and a few showers, especially late afternoon then clearing in the evening. Showers may be heavy and contain hail. Any showers in the morning bring snow flurries to 700m then lowering to 400 or possibly even 300m late afternoon. South to southwesterly winds.
Wintry showers with a risk of hail and snow flurries to 300m clearing by midday, sunny areas this afternoon. In the evening showers may return mainly near the coast. Cold southwesterly winds.
Any morning showers clearing then sunny areas increase this afternoon, southwesterly winds.

Southland & Otago
Wintry showers with small hail at times and snow to 200m then lifting to 300m by evening at which point showers ease (clearing evening for Central Otago). Cold southwesterly winds.
