A high in the Tasman Sea and a west to southwesterly airflow around it pushes cloud into western regions today while sunnier weather is expected out east. Still, there could be some morning cloud for the east of the South Island and afternoon cloud for the east of the North Island.

Plenty of mid / high level cloud. Southwesterly breezes.

Waikato, Central North Island & Bay Of Plenty

Areas of mid and high level cloud, light west to southwest winds.
Highs: 22-25

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny this morning although some cloud gradually builds from
afternoon. East to northeast winds.
Highs: 22-23

Western North Island

Cloudy areas with light west to northwest winds from afternoon. Taranaki
sees more sustained southwesterly winds blowing through the day.
Highs: 22-23

Wellington

Any morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, light southerlies tend
northwest this afternoon.
High: 22

Marlborough & Nelson

Any morning cloud clears then mainly sunny with light winds, afternoon
north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 22-24

Canterbury

Any morning cloud clear then mainly sunny with light winds, afternoon
easterlies.
High: 20

West Coast

Periods of cloud and a few sunny spells, the odd light shower possible now
and then mainly morning and evening. West to northwest winds.
Highs: 19-20

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny with east to northeast breezes, some late cloud
possible.
High: 20

Central Otago

Mostly sunny weather with light winds tending west to southwest this
afternoon.

Southland

Cloudy areas with the odd shower this morning, light winds then west to
southwest winds pick up a little from midday.
