A low pressure system and front move across the North Island today bringing wet weather, heavy falls possibly in some regions. The South Island is mainly dry although expect some patchy rain about Buller / Nelson / Marlborough and the far south late afternoon / evening.

Periods of rain with northeasterly winds tending northwest this morning then freshening. Rain mostly clearing this evening although the odd shower could remain.
Highs: 21-23

Auckland

Rain with heavy falls possible this morning, northeasterly winds freshen.
Rain eases this afternoon as winds change brisk northwesterly.
High: 20

Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy with rain developing this morning, northeasterly winds. Rain eases
late afternoon / evening as northeasterlies tend northwest.
High: 19

Waikato & Central North Island

Cloudy with rain developing this morning, chance of a few heavy falls then
easing mid to late afternoon as northeasterlies change northwest. West to
southwest winds freshen around midnight with showers.
Highs: 15-18

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with northerly winds, a few spells of rain from midday then clearing
this evening.
High: 17

Taranaki

Cloudy, rain develops this morning then easing later this evening as breezy
northerlies change southwest later today.

Western North Island

Mostly cloudy, spells of rain from midday then easing in the evening. Light
winds.

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with northerly winds, some rain moves in around midday then
clears evening.

Nelson

Cloudy, spells of rain from midday then clearing in the evening. Light
winds.

Marlborough

Cloudy with northerly winds, a few spells of rain from midday then clearing
in the evening.

Canterbury

Thick high cloud with east to northeasterly winds, freshening up this
afternoon near the coast then easing in the evening.
Highs: 16-17

West Coast

Mostly cloudy with light winds tending easterly, some rain at times
Westport northwards from afternoon. Late afternoon / evening some patchy rain
also moves into Fiordland.
Highs: 14-15

Coastal Otago

Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, northeasterlies freshen. A few
spells of rain move in during the evening with winds easing.
Highs: 15-16

Southland & Central Otago

Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, light northwesterlies. A few spells
of rain move in late afternoon / evening.
Highs: 16-17
