An anticyclone gives mainly clear and sunny weather across the North Island today with light winds. Fairly settled over the South Island too, a northwesterly airflow does gradually build however with cloud increasing in the west and showers moving in.

Sunny with light winds tending northerly this afternoon.

Waikato & Central North Island

Sunny with light winds after a frosty start.

Eastern North Island

Sunny with light southwesterlies dying out this morning.
High: 13

Taranaki

Sunny with light southeasterlies then tending northerly during the
afternoon. Late high cloud.
High: 13

Western North Island

Becoming sunny early this morning, light winds tend northerly.
High: 13

Wellington

Becoming sunny early this morning, light winds. Northerlies freshen from
this afternoon.
High: 11

Nelson

Mostly sunny with cloud gradually building from afternoon, northerly
winds.
High: 12

Marlborough

Sunny with some high cloud later today, light winds this morning then
northwesterlies pick up from afternoon.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with some high cloud later today, light northeasterlies near
the coast. Northwesterly winds pick up a little from afternoon in inland
areas.
Highs: 12-13

West Coast

Sunny areas at first this morning however becoming cloudy by midday, rain
moves in late afternoon or evening. Increasing northeasterly winds.

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny with some high cloud gradually increasing, northeasterly
winds.
High: 12

Central Otago

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, northerlies. Late afternoon or
evening a few spells of rain are possible, mainly west of the Southern Lakes
area.
Highs: 9-10

Southland

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, northeasterlies. Later in the
evening winds tend northerly with a few spots of rain possible.
Highs: 11-12
