An east to northeasterly airflow increases across the country today, squashed between an anticyclone just east of New Zealand and a deepening low pressure system in the Tasman Sea.

Auckland & Northland
Cloudy with breezy east to northeast winds, the odd shower, mainly this morning although the odd one may remain for the rest of the day especially in the east.
High: 15-17

Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy periods about western Bay Of Plenty, sunnier skies further east.
Easterly winds
Highs: 14-15

Waikato & Central North Island

Mostly sunny with easterly winds. Periods of cloud about the Waikato.
Highs: 12-14

Eastern North Island

Sunny spells with south to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Western North Island

Mostly sunny with easterly winds, some high cloud especially about
Taranaki.
Highs: 13-14

Wellington

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, southeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-12

Nelson

Sunny areas and some high cloud, light winds.
High: 12

Marlborough

Sunny areas and some high cloud, east to southeast winds.
High: 12

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, light winds tend northeast in the
afternoon.
Highs: 10-11

West Coast

Sunny areas and some high cloud, east to southeast winds.
Highs: 12-13

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny with light northeasterlies.
Highs: 6-10
