A large depression lies over the country today, many regions will be unsettled and wet or becoming wet. The east coast of the North Island sees early rain or showers clearing then becoming mostly sunny and warm.

Northland
Early rain eases to the odd shower, out east morning rain clears then remaining mostly dry with sunny spells. Breezy westerlies.

Auckland

Early rain clears to sunny spells, showers move in again during the
afternoon. Brisk westerlies.
High: 18

Bay Of Plenty

Morning rain with a few heavy falls then clearing, mostly sunny in the
afternoon with breezy westerlies. Showers may move in again later in the
evening.
Highs: 17-18

Waikato & Central North Island

Early rain eases to showers, brisk westerly winds.
Highs: 13-16

Eastern North Island

Any early showers clear then becoming mostly sunny, breezy northwesterly
winds. High cloud thickens again later in the evening.
Highs: 19-20

Western North Island

Showers, heavy at times with brisk west to northwest winds. Rain overnight
as winds change southwest. Winds strong about Taranki and most coastal areas
during the day.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington

Strong northwesterlies with sunny spells at first, showers again from late
morning or midday. Winds change southerly later this evening with rain.
High: 14

Nelson

Cloudy with breezy northwesterlies, showers spreading from the west after
midday. Winds change southwest later this evening.
High: 14

Marlborough

Sunny spells and thickening high cloud, gusty northwesterly winds. The odd
shower may spread from the west after midday, later this evening southwesterlies
freshen with showers.
Highs: 16-17

Canterbury

Rain develops about South Canterbury this morning then spreads north into
Mid and North Canterbury this afternoon with freshening southwesterly winds.
Sunny spells at first this morning in Mid and North Canterbury.
Highs: 12-14

West Coast

Rain clears this morning about Fiordland and South Westland with
southeasterly winds strengthening. Further north expect showers with heavy falls
possible then easing from later this afternoon, southwesterlies. Showers clear
North Westland at night with winds tending southeast.
Highs: 11-12

Coastal Otago

Rain, heavy at times then easing this evening. Strong cold
southerlies.
Highs: 10-11

Southland & Central Otago

Rain, easing this morning to occasional showers. Cold southerly
winds.
Highs: 7-12
