A southwesterly airflow lies over the country today, cloudy spells in the west of borth islands with the odd shower (especially this morning). Mainly dry conditions out east although Otago could see a few showers early this morning then again in the evening.

Northland
Sunny spells, the odd shower possible mainly this morning. Breezy west to southwest winds ease later this evening.

Auckland

Sunny spells with west to southwest winds, becoming fairly breezy this afternoon.
Chance of the odd shower at times otherwise dry.
High: 20

Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with westerlies becoming fairly breezy this afternoon then
easing again in the evening.
High: 20

Waikato & Central North Island

Morning showers in the west ease with long dry spells developing and sunny
breaks moving in, sunny spells elsewhere with the chance of a brief shower this
afternoon. Westerlies.
Highs: 17-19

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with westerly winds.
Highs: 20-21

Western North Island

Cloudy periods with the odd shower, easing this afternoon. Northwesterlies
tend westerly after midday. About northern Taranaki expect conditions to be
drier with more frequent sunny spells.
High: 18

Wellington

Mostly sunny, morning westerlies die away. Light winds in the afternoon may
tend southerly. Overnight there may be a few showers move through.
High: 17

Nelson

Mostly sunny with southwesterly winds, easing in the evening.
Highs: 19-20

Marlborough

Mostly sunny with westerly winds (easterlies near the coast), later in the
evening or overnight there may be a brief shower or two.
Highs: 19-20

Canterbury

Periods of cloud and a few sunny spells, southwesterly winds tend northeast
late afternoon or evening.
Highs: 15-16

West Coast

Early showers mostly clearing, cloudy areas with southwesterly winds. There
may be the odd shower at times during the day then in the evening there is a
greater risk of showers for a time.
Highs: 15-16

Coastal Otago

Any early showers clear then expect sunny spells with westerly winds, in
the evening a few further showers move in.
High: 14

Central Otago

Sunny spells increase from this morning, southwesterly winds. In the
evening there may be a few brief showers move through.
Highs: 13-14

Southland

Morning showers ease, perhaps clearing. Breezy westerly winds with cloudy
periods. Late afternoon or evening a few further shower move through with a
southwest change.
High: 15
