A low sits out to the west of the country in the Tasman Sea today directing a northeasterly airflow over New Zealand. Most regions will be fairly cloudy, some get the odd shower. The West Coast of the South Island gets some rain this afternoon with heavy falls possible.

Fairly cloudy with northeasterly winds, the odd shower about mainly this morning.
A few morning showers then easing, potentially clearing by midday with long
dry spells developing. Skies remaining fairly cloudy with northeasterly winds
freshening.
A cloudy start then sunny spells break through towards midday, east to
northeast breezes.
