A low sits out to the west of the country in the Tasman Sea today directing a northeasterly airflow over New Zealand. Most regions will be fairly cloudy, some get the odd shower. The West Coast of the South Island gets some rain this afternoon with heavy falls possible.

Fairly cloudy with northeasterly winds, the odd shower about mainly this morning.

Auckland

A few morning showers then easing, potentially clearing by midday with long
dry spells developing. Skies remaining fairly cloudy with northeasterly winds
freshening.

Bay Of Plenty

A cloudy start then sunny spells break through towards midday, east to
northeast breezes.
High: 20

Waikato & Central North Island

Mostly cloudy with any early showers clearing, a few afternoon sunny
spells. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-20

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with patchy drizzle, easterly winds develop this afternoon.
Highs: 17-18

Western North Island

Showers clearing by or around midday, remaining fairly cloudy with east to
northeast winds.

Wellington

Showers easing this afternoon potentially clearing with long dry spells
developing, easterly winds.

Nelson

Periods of rain, easing this afternoon. Easterly breezes.

Cloudy with scattered rain, easterly winds.

Mostly cloudy with a few spits of rain possible from this afternoon,

Cloudy with showers developing early this morning then turning to areas of
rain this afternoon, heavy falls possible. Easterly winds.

Coastal Otago

Mostly cloudy with brisk northeasterlies.

Central Otago

Thickening high cloud with northeasterly winds. A few spots of rain
possible at times, more likely from later in the evening.

Southland

Sunny with increasing high cloud, light easterlies. Cloud thickens later in
the evening with spots of rain overnight.
