A south to southeasterly airflow lies over the country today, eastern parts of both islands with be damp with rain or drizzle about. Out west conditions are drier although there could be some clearing rain this morning on the South Island’s West Coast.

Areas of high cloud with southwesterly breezes.

Auckland

Sunny areas and some increasing high cloud, southwesterly winds.
Highs: 23-24

Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas and some increasing high cloud, southwesterly winds.
Highs: 26-27

Waikato & Central North Island

Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, southerly winds (tending more
southwest this afternoon about the Waikato). Cloud thicker about eastern parts
of the Central North Island with the odd spit possible, spreading from the east
coast.
Highs: 22-26

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with drizzle patches turning to areas of rain this morning, south to
southeasterly winds.
Highs: 21-23

Western North Island

Mostly cloudy with southeasterly winds, the odd brief shower at times from
afternoon. Sunny spells and thickening high cloud about Taranaki, southerly
winds pick up this afternoon.
Highs: 22-23

Wellington

Cloudy with southerly winds strengthening from this afternoon, drizzle
patches then some rain moves in during the evening.
High: 17

Nelson

Plenty of high cloud with southeasterly winds, chance of a late
shower.
Highs: 20-21

Marlborough

Mostly cloudy with southeasterly winds, patchy evening rain /
drizzle.
High: 18

Canterbury

Cloudy with drizzle patches, evening rain. Southerly winds freshen up a
little after midday.

West Coast

Morning rain clears then expect plenty of high cloud with
southeasterly winds.

Coastal Otago

Cloudy with drizzle patches clearing this morning, south to southwest
winds.

Mostly cloudy with the chance of a few PM sunny spells. Any early drizzle
clears this morning.

Mostly cloudy with southerly winds, any drizzle clearing this morning then
some may return later this evening.
